Treetop Adventure Golf, Wales’ first indoor mini golf attraction will open its doors in April at St David’s shopping centre, Cardiff.
The project, which is being set up by ex-city worker turned entrepreneur Elizabeth Perrin and experienced leisure operator Chris Richards, will cost in excess of £1.5 million and is to be located in a 15,000 sq ft unit on level three of the shopping centre.
The new destination will comprise of two indoor 18-hole adventure golf courses set within a South American inspired rainforest, together with a Clubhouse bar and café. Customers will have the choice of playing the Tropical Trail and Ancient Explorer, designed and built by leading American specialists Castle Golf.
Both courses will be packed with sound and lighting effects together with exciting feature scenes.
Elizabeth quit her city job in Spring 2013 to set up Discovery Adventure Golf, the company behind Treetop Adventure Golf. Having played mini golf on holiday growing up she felt there was a real opportunity to reinvent the activity for the UK leisure market. The Cardiff site will be the company’s flagship course and will be the first step in building a chain of indoor adventure golf courses across the UK and continental Europe.
Co-founder and CEO of Treetop Adventure Golf, Elizabeth Perrin, said: “Cardiff is such a vibrant city with a thriving business scene and fantastic recent openings – we are really excited to offer a city centre leisure activity at our destination venue in St David’s.”
Keen to support Welsh businesses, Elizabeth added: “Along with creating 20 new jobs, we are passionate to work with local partners where possible and have some great suppliers lined up for our Clubhouse bar and cafe. We are also very pleased to have appointed worldwide scenery producers, Cardiff Theatrical Services to design and fit our urban jungle themed reception, bar and rainforest shack toilets.
“Indoor mini golf continues to grow in popularity in the UK- it is a fantastically inclusive activity providing fun for everyone, whatever the weather. Treetop Adventure Golf will offer superior quality and excellent customer service.
“We will deliver an immersive experience that appeals to families, students and adults alike. Our destination venue also offers a great setting for corporate events as well as parties and stag and hen celebrations.”
Treetop Adventure Golf is due to open in April 2015. Once open, visitors will be able to play and enjoy the bar and café between the hours of 10am and 11pm.
