Robert Karlsson, 11-time winner on The European Tour and a new abacus® brand ambassador for 2015, has revealed how wearing the company’s new Pitch Extreme StretchLite™ jacket is helping his game.

The Swede has been working alongside the company since May and has been thoroughly testing the state-of-the-art technical fabrics within the abacus® Extreme range, in particular those used in the brand’s Pitch StretchLite60K™ rain jacket and trousers.

“I used to try and avoid wearing rain jackets, as they would often feel quite cumbersome when on the course, but I often catch myself now hoping for rain as I feel the abacus® garments give me a competitive advantage over the rest of the field,” said Robert.

The Pitch Extreme StretchLite60KTM jacket and trousers are signature pieces of the abacus® Spring/Summer 2016 collection. They are the lightest, most breathable waterproof garments the company has ever developed – and were worn during The 2015 Solheim Cup, as part of the European Team’s tournament outfits.

The jacket’s 60,000 MVP (Moisture Vapour Pillar) rating and its two-layer lamination membrane technology enables it to be worn close to the skin without a separate lining, while the fabric’s smart technology allows it to stretch to almost twice its original size.

Robert continued: “The garment is so thin, lightweight and stretchable that it doesn’t restrict my movements on the course. In fact, during the Nordea Masters at the beginning of June, I didn’t take it off all week.

“The garment feels like I am wearing a lightweight jumper, which certainly keeps my caddy happy when it is in the bag, but it is a fully functional item of rainwear so, regardless of the weather conditions, I find I can now just go out on the course and concentrate 100% on my game.”

Chris Mattsson, Head Designer at Abacus Sportswear, said: “Robert’s experience is exactly what we are looking to achieve with every golfer, regardless of their ability. We are always looking to ensure the golfer is protected not only against the rain, but also the sun, wind and the cold, so they can concentrate on their golf.”
