Accessories win PGA of Europe approval

12.01am 7th October 2002 - Corporate

The comprehensive range of golfing products distributed by RDA Smith has become the ‘Official Accessories’ of the PGA of Europe.

Bob Smith, RDA Smith’s managing director, has reached a Corporate Partnership agreement with PGAE to join other similar market leaders in their own specialist field including Sunderland of Scotland, Eaton Golf Pride, PowaKaddy and Golfsmith Europe.

RDA Smith are the suppliers of quality accoutrements, all bearing a logo of the customer’s choice, from pitch repairers and ball markers to leather travel bags and holdalls via cuff links and key tags, towels and umbrellas.

Their customers include such golf clubs and resorts as Valderrama, St Andrew’s, Gleneagles, Loch Lomond and Cypress Point. They have outlets in some 30 countries including the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the Far East and the Middle East.

Australian-born Bob Smith, who has 23 years experience in the trade, outlines two particular reasons for his joining forces with the PGAE:

The company’s intention to spread its business more extensively throughout Europe.

The favourable reports he has received from other PGAE Corporate Partners of the benefits generated from such a link.

“Seventy per cent of our current business is in the UK,” he explained. “This is constantly growing with new contracts but there is also a great deal of potential growth within Europe and especially the member countries of the PGA of Europe.

“This Corporate Partnership agreement we have reached will help us considerably to establish the contacts we require for the expansion we are seeking on the continent.

“I have spoken to other PGA of Europe Corporate Partners and been given most favourable reports of the support received. But for this I would not have taken out the Agreement.”

The arrival of a new high-quality company to the ‘family’ of Corporate Partners which, in addition to those mentioned earlier, also includes, Atalaya Park Hotel, Bollà© Sunglasses, Costa del Sol Tourist Board, Chèrvo Sports, GolfBookings.Com, Golf Europe/Mà¼nchen, Hi-Tec Sports, Lynx, Relais du Golf and Starwood, was greeted with matching enthusiasm by Lawrie Thornton, PGAE general secretary.

“There was an obvious vacancy for a high-quality accessories manufacturer and supplier in our Corporate Partners portfolio, “ he observed. “I have known Bob Smith and his products for many years and there is no company in this field I would rather have as one of our close associates.”
