Club Car, the world’s largest manufacturer of small-wheel, zero-emissions electric vehicles, and Official Supplier to The 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, Scotland, has announced important plans to grow its business in ‘The Home of Golf’.

Widening the role of its northern England business partner, MTS Golf & Utility, to include Scotland, Club Car is seeking to expand its business in a year that also sees it supply over 300 vehicles to support the 40th edition of The Ryder Cup, an event Club Car has been associated with for the past 15 years.

Kevin Hart, Club Car Director of Golf Business for Europe, Middle East, India and Africa, added: “It makes perfect sense to expand MTS Golf & Utility’s remit to cover Scotland. Based on recent KPMG research*, the golf industry is worth a staggering £1.171billion to the Scottish economy annually, and employs nearly 20,000 people – that’s one in every 25 jobs is golf-related – so the opportunity for Club Car to expand is huge.”

Peter Watson, MTS Group Managing Director, said: “With the forthcoming playing of the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, and Club Car’s long association with the event, it is particularly timely to be expanding our business in Scotland.

“We see great opportunities for growth and we are already moving from a pure sales outlet to also offering short-term Club Car hire fleet services to golf clubs that require additional vehicles during the busier summer months.

“Over the past 30 years, we have successfully adopted this approach in other areas of the MTS Group, and we believe our golf business in Scotland will benefit too.”

MTS Golf & Utility, part of MTS Group, the North of England’s leading Bobcat dealership and largest hirer of skidsteer and tracked loaders, has opened new premises in Scotland to manage the expected growthin business, and deliver same-day support capabilities.

Peter Watson added: “We have recently undertaken a customer study in Scotland and it emphasised the importance of offering an efficient and proactive maintenance and repair service with same-day support. This is an area we have honed over the 10 years we have worked with Club Car,and it makes a critical difference to good customer service and on-going positive relationships with customers.”
