Driving Ranges to You – Prodrive Ranges

12.30am 11th February 2005 - Corporate

Launched recently in the U.K. Prodrive Ranges have introduced a modular transportable system of range units to the golf and leisure industry markets. Designed to an impressive commercial standard to replicate conventional range buildings, the units can accommodate two or three bays.
Since the first three bay prototype unit was acquired by Mollington Golf Club in Chester, interest from golf clubs throughout the U.K. and Ireland has been growing considerably. In other areas, Nike Golf employed a unit for their demonstration area during The Open at Royal Troon and Sportscotland (The Scottish Sports Council) have now purchased three units as part of their “Clubgolf” initiative currently being implemented across Scotland. In recent weeks, Marriott Hotels have also confirmed an order for one of their hotel/country clubs in Yorkshire.
Prodrive state that the concept offers new benefits to a diversity of potential users. The unitised system is aimed equally at the traditional golf sector and new applications in the more general sports and leisure industries. Whilst as substantial as a built structure once sited, the units remain essentially as moveable objects. This allows asset financing in the form of lease/rental to be used to acquire the facilities, offering minimal initial outlay and other advantages. One 3-Bay unit can be leased for around £60.00 per week over a five year agreement, which Prodrive point out is roughly the equivalent of two average cost green fees. The self-contained modular system can also provide significant advantages in terms of planning permission in most areas and also negates the need for building regulations approval.
All unit modules are delivered to site by means of low loader and generally lifted direct into position, using the transportation’s hiab crane. Installation can be either on hard standing ground or all types of grass areas, employing basic paving slabs to support the units. Once positioned and set-up, the units can start functioning immediately, forming a ready-made range facility to any required size. All ranges are comprehensively fitted out, with standard items including; electricity adaption for mains and/or generator use, internal fluorescent lighting, high reach netting bay dividers, rear entry doors, protective padding and tee mats. Electrically operated roller shutter security doors are also offered as an option. A bespoke design service to accommodate specific build requirements is also available through Prodrive.
