Etonic introduces non-cleated performance golf shoe

12.15am 1st December 2004 - Corporate

Comfort has always been paramount in the design of Etonic footwear and now the industry leader in outsole technology has taken comfort to the next level with Etonic G-SOK™. Constructed with a full grain leather upper, the G-SOK™ combines a Tri-Density Pliyou Removable Footbed™ and a new Shocksorb Comfort System™for added shock absorption and enhanced comfort and fit throughout the shoe.
G-SOK™ is the industry’s first non-cleated performance golf shoe. Etonic has teamed up with Goodyear to build a new type of lightweight traction system that is extremely comfortable and durable. The colourful outsole features a Multi-Zone Traction System™ which combines tri-directional pyramid turf grips with lateral and longitudinal stability bars and a C.I.P. (critical impact point) for incredible traction on all types of lies. A TPU stability shank provides added arch support and lateral stability.
The G-SOK™ will be available in the UK in three options – black, white/black and white/brown/black – and will have a one-year waterproof guarantee. The product will be in golf shops from March 2005 and retail at £80.
“Etonic G-SOK™ promises to do for footwear what “hybrids” did for the club market,” stated Karen Pitts, vice president of Etonic Worldwide. “This revolutionary new design works and provides a level of convenience that has been missing in the shoe category. It’s a designer’s dream – by not having to build a golf shoe around cleats, the designer can make the shoe more lightweight and flexible, and at the same time have more fun with the overall look of the shoe.”
In 1979, Etonic began studying the bio-mechanics of a golfer’s feet during the golf swing to design an outsole which would improve stability and traction. One year later, Etonic introduced a shoe with a twelfth spike placed at the centre of the outsole for improved traction. Seven years later, Etonic revolutionized the outsole of the golf shoe with the patented Stabilizer Technology™, which combined pyramid turf grips, a wide platform with a flare heel, and unique spike placement. Since then, Stabilizer Technology has been the foundation of every Etonic golf shoe. In 1996, Etonic led the transition from metal spikes to soft spikes with the introduction of the first spikeless golf shoe called the DIFFERENCE. Today, Etonic is once again is at the forefront of outsole technology with the introduction of G-SOK™.
