Gleneagles Chooses Club Car

8.20am 2nd May 2007 - Corporate

Club Car, the world’s leading manufacturer of golf cars and utility vehicles, has agreed a Preferred Supplier contract with The Gleneagles Hotel. As an AA 5 Star golf resort, Gleneagles not only offers three of the top golf courses in Scotland, but is one of the most luxurious hotels in the world.

One of the main driving forces behind Gleneagles’ decision to work with Club Car was their desire to use an electric golf car fleet due to concerns over environmental and noise pollution.

In the past it had relied on petrol power, but the incentives of reduced cost and minimal environmental impact were sufficient to convince Gleneagles of the benefits of making the switch to electric. Club Car has also designed and built a bespoke charging system that is already in use on site.

Gleneagles is the venue for the 2014 Ryder Cup where play will take place on The PGA Centenary Course, created by Jack Nicklaus. Club Car was the preferred partner of last year’s Ryder Cup hosted at The K Club and also supplies golf cars to Celtic Manor, the 2010 host of the event. Heather Edment, Gleneagles golf business manager, explains how important Club Car’s heritage was choosing their golf car and utility supplier, “We pride ourselves on delivering a prestigious experience for our guests and it is therefore paramount that we choose partners that reflect the same high standards we set for ourselves.”

As well as taking delivery of 40 electric Precedent golf cars, Gleneagles has also ordered 3 award winning CarryAll 272 vehicles, plus a Villager 6 and a Villager 8 unit. These will be used to ensure the smooth running of the entire complex.

Kevin Hart, Club Car’s national account manager commented on the agreement, “Club Car is honoured and delighted to have a Preferred Supplier Agreement with Gleneagles, a future Ryder Cup venue and unquestionably one of the most famous and luxurious hotels in the world.”

Club Car provides fleet, turf, hospitality and financing solutions for golf, agricultural, recreational and industrial markets.
