Glenmuir and Sunderland – two of the golf industry’s leading apparel brands – are celebrating after scooping prestigious clothing awards from the Foremost golf buying group.

Glenmuir was named Apparel Supplier of the Year for the second year in succession, while Sunderland lifted the title of Waterproof Suit Supplier of the year for the third year running.

The awards are decided by a vote from Foremost’s 1,000+ members, meaning Glenmuir and Sunderland are ranked number one for golf clothing by many of the UK’s leading green grass golf accounts.

A delighted Glenmuir managing director, Colin Mee, said: “It’s always fantastic to win awards, but these two are particularly satisfying because they demonstrate that we were able to maintain our high service levels whilst absorbing the Sunderland sales and distribution and catering for the huge workload we undertook for the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor.

“This would not have been possible without the co-operation and teamwork that is ever-present within the entire Glenmuir operation and every one of our staff should be very proud of their achievements.”

When voting for the awards, Foremost’s member golf professionals take into account quality of product, customer service, sales team support, margin return and also marketing support.

Glenmuir has been a Foremost supplier since the group was set up in 1984 and is a long-standing supporter of Foremost’s Elite Marketing Programme (EMP).

Both Sunderland and Glenmuir exhibited at the recent Golf Show in Harrogate, run by Foremost, TGI and the PGA, which attracted record day one attendances.

Glenmuir unveiled its new Spring/Summer 2011 collection at The Golf Show and the comprehensive range features more than 40 exciting new garments ranging from innovative Men’s Performance Shirts to leather belts and a capsule Junior collection.

Sunderland of Scotland showcased its latest Autumn/Winter 2010 collection, which featured new men’s ‘Resort’ and ‘Links’ waterproof jackets, replacements for the iconic and best-selling Player and Club jackets.

For lady golfers, Sunderland’s best-selling ‘International’ and ‘Classic’ women’s jackets are among the most contemporary and stylish golf weatherwear and have been updated for the season.
