Golfers planning a round with their friends can now access a free app from Galvin Green that offers advice from the leading Multi-layer golf clothing brand on what to wear in order to play at their best whatever the weather conditions displayed on the screen.
The app allows serious golfers to challenge a friend to a game through SMS or email, plus opt in to a push notification function that reminds them of their recommended Multi-layer outfit one day ahead of their game.
An innovative Dress for the Weather feature on the app offers three distinct layering options from the latest Galvin Green collection to match against the varying degrees of potential showers, cold temperatures or bracing winds forecast – so preparing the golfer to face the elements in the most appropriate high-performance clothing on the market.
Having requested a weather forecast for their chosen golf course in one of seven countries – including the UK – golfers are shown the climatic conditions for the day and then the app automatically selects matching layers from more than 50 garments in the Men’s range and almost 30 in the Ladies’ collection. Using an advanced gyro function, they can also see several of the key garments recommended in action set against the backdrop of the relevant weather conditions, which may change when the golfer alters his or her exact tee time. It also advises the user of the nearest store selling Galvin Green garments and accessories.
With potential showers forecast for the coming month, the likelihood is that the ultralight and ultra-packable ARON GORE-TEX® Paclite® waterproof jacket will appear on hand-held devices alongside the MARVIN Ventil8™ polo shirt and SKINTIGHT™ Thermal base layer. The Ladies’ range would depict the AGNES jacket, the MILLIE shirt and EMILY Thermal.
As part of the brand’s biggest-ever digital campaign aimed at serious golfers, Dress for the Weather alerts will be delivered every Thursday to more than two million golfers each month across Europe, so a decision on what to wear during the round can be taken well ahead of the weekend game. The app is free to download from Apple Store or Google Play.
“The new app helps golfers Stay Ahead by layering up with the most effective clothing on the market,” said Brand Manager Nicholai Stein, who has also supervised a new-look website to herald in the latest innovations from the market-leading apparel brand.
