Good Driving down to a Tee

12.05am 14th April 2005 - Corporate

Pride Golf Tee Company, the world’s leading producer of golf tees, has introduced the brand new Pride Professional Tee and Club Correlation System, designed to help golfers optimise their performance by selecting tees that will help them to get the most out of the driver they use.
The new dispensing unit, which is small enough to sit on a shop counter or fit on to a slat wall, is designed to contain packs of three different lengths of tees, ProLengthठProLengthPlusà¤and ProLength-Maxà¤each colour-coded to correlate with an encyclopaedic list of modern drivers. The idea couldn‘t be simpler. All the consumer has to do is see which length of tee is recommended and select a tee pack accordingly. For 3,4,5 woods and drivers under 360cc select the yellow packet ProLengthà¤. For drivers over 360cc volume select the blue packet ProLengthPlusà¤. For drivers over 400cc volume select the green packet ProLength-Maxà¤.
Pride Golf Tee Company’s new approach to marketing golf tees was introduced to cater for the recent proliferation of modern big-headed drivers. Suddenly, traditional 53mm tees, the staple for the last 100 years, proved to be too short for some modern drivers. As a result, Pride introduced three longer tees, measuring 69mm (the ProLength) 83mm (the ProLengthPlus) and 101mm (the Prolength-Max) to cope with growing demand.
“We have introduced the new Pride Professional Tee and Club Correlation System to help golfers to select the tees that suit the driver they use,” said Leo Kahl, director of marketing, Pride Golf Tee Company.
“While the golf tee has long been an afterthought in the game, it has suddenly become an integral part of a driver system, as the proper length of tee is proven to maximise a driver’s performance. As the world’s largest tee manufacturer, we felt it was essential to bring clarity to the golf tee, while providing consumers with a simple, yet effective means for matching golf tees with drivers.”
Pride’s latest Professional Tee and Club Correlation System is introduced at a time when sales of oversize golf tees are increasing steadily. In fact, sales of long tees grew more than 100% at Pride in both 2003 and 2004, and are expected to grow by another 100% by the end of 2005.
Retailers can purchase the new Pride Professional Tee and Club Correlation System, with 150 specially designed bags of tees. The suggested retail price for each tee pack will be £1.
