England Golf and the Lee Westwood Golf School have announced a partnership that will offer a number of scholarship options for those young golfers recognised as part of the governing body’s national and regional coaching programme.

The Lee Westwood Golf School, whose ethos is to deliver a highly robust educational curriculum set within a golfing environment, provides a number of programmes for young golfers, and working in partnership with England Golf are able to offer scholarships for their full-time two year golf and education programme.

The partnership will assist England Golf in its ongoing strategy to establish new opportunities and affiliations that link its player development pathway more effectively with schools, colleges and universities, enabling more young players to stay in education for longer.

England Golf will be offering the scholarship opportunity, which will commence in September, to all its national and regional squad members who will then go through the usual interview and selection process to identify the successful candidates.

Gavin Hamlyn, General Manager of Lee Westwood Golf said “We are very excited to be working alongside England Golf, where we can assist talented young golfers aiming to play at the highest level, whilst encouraging them to stay in education for longer.”

Lee Westwood said “England Golf has helped many young golfers, me included, over the years, and I am proud that I can now give something back through attendance at my golf school.”

The partnership will also see further opportunities for collaboration including Lee Westwood Golf Camps and the support of Lee Westwood in the promotion of England Golf activity.

Nigel Edwards, England Golf Performance Director commented, “This is a great opportunity for young golfers, boys and girls, who wish to continue their education whilst still being able to maintain their golf development pathway and continue to enhance their golf skills.”

The scholarships will be based at one of two locations, Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf & Spa in Cheshire, and the Stoke by Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa in Essex.
