Million pound irrigation contract

12.05am 28th August 2001 - Corporate

Ireland’s Kildare Golf Club, otherwise known as the K Club, has awarded a million pound contract to irrigation consultants TIS Sandbach. The Club, already host of the Smurfit Irish Open, will be the venue for the Ryder Cup Matches in 2005.

As part of the contract Flowtronex Europe is responsible for the installation of two new pump sets, both of which include the company’s ‘Smoothflow’ control system and monitoring software ‘Pumplog’.

One of the sets serves the new 18 hole course, recently built to keep pace with demand and to ensure that members will still be able to play in the run up to and during major tournaments. The other is being installed this summer on the existing course, which is undergoing a refurbishment programme in preparation for the Ryder Cup.

Both sets will use vertical turbine pumps, drawing water from two separate lakes. “The Flowtronex product is one of the best on the market and does justice to our irrigation equipment,” said Tony Wenster, managing director of TIS. “Together we are able to provide a first class package for the ‘K’ Club.”
