On-line bookings go global

6.30am 21st August 2000 - Corporate

Golfagent.com, the world’s first direct on-line golf booking service, has expanded beyond the UK to include golf courses in over 10 countries from Spain to Singapore. Golfers can now plan a golf trip abroad by booking tee-times from home 24 hours a day saving several phone calls and any worries about time differences.

There are 240 courses in the United States on the system so far including well-known Florida courses such as Cypress Creek, Orange County National, three PGA Village courses and LPGA International at Daytona Beach. Tee-times can be booked simply by clicking on the course, selecting a time and making a confirmed reservation.

“Thousands of golfers have already taken advantage of golfagent.com in the two years since its launch and golfing visitors are using it in increasing numbers – currently around 400 a month,” said Peter Mason, external relations manager with St Andrews Links Trust which pioneered the system with software developers, Baron Corporation.

The global expansion of golfagent.com is accompanied by recent growth in the UK. Scotland is leading the way with nearly 100 courses on the system including championship venues such as Gleneagles, Turnberry, Carnoustie and Cruden Bay. Qualifying courses for the recent Open Championship including Ladybank, Scotscraig and Downfield feature on the system as do all 44 courses in the Highlands.
