PGA Collection Supports New Golfer Incentives

9.30am 4th March 2014 - Corporate

PGA Collection EZTo help support the various new programmes to increase golf participation at all levels, the PGA Collection is offering PGA Pros the opportunity of purchasing customised individual clubs at a substantial discount.

Richard Jewell, MD of Sigma Golf and himself a PGA Advanced Fellow Professional explained in more detail: “Last year we trialled this with several of our accounts and the response was very positive.

“We supply a PGA-Collection customised 7-iron in mens, ladies, right and left hand or an option of three age sizes in our PGA Collection Kids range, also right and left hand, plus a bespoke girls range, for just £6.50.

“It is then up to the individual professional as to how they use this promotion.  Some of our stockists cost the price of the 7-iron into their group lessons.  Others make a small charge for the club.  The most successful seems to be from the pros that include the cost.  They supply us with their requirements, i.e. 1” longer, 2° upright, mid-size grips etc.  We then make up the club and when the pupil arrives for their first lesson they have their OWN customised club.  Alternatively, some of our larger accounts purchase a number of pre-customised clubs, i.e. length, lie, etc and supply them to the pupils as and when required.

“Whatever method is used, it ensures that the pupil is getting a properly-fitted club that can only help them achieve their full potential. Because they have their own club from the first lesson, they are far more likely to practice and continue playing.

“Most importantly, our research has shown that the large majority of those golfers who start with a customised 7-iron go on to order additional clubs to make up a set.

“With the various promotions, ‘Get in to Golf’’ from England Golf, ‘Golf Roots’ from The Golf Foundation and National Golf Month in May, this is an ideal opportunity to attract new golfers to your shop and ensuring that after receiving tuition, they don’t end up purchasing an ill-fitting box set of clubs from a local sports shop.

“In my experience, we have seen far too many pros missing an ideal opportunity of getting new customers from first-time golfers, which is the main concept behind the PGA Collection.”

Various packages, including display stands and point of sale material promoting this offer, are available from Sigma Golf who can be contacted on Tel: 01452 611888 sales@sigmagolf.co.uk
