The PGA of South Africa and the Club Management Association of Southern Africa (CMASA) have signed a ground-breaking agreement to create one of the strongest partnerships in Southern African golf and the general sports club and recreation sector.

The new agreement will bring a significantly increased level of value to South African golf clubs and general sports clubs, and create an alliance that will be one of the most competitive in the local industry.

Under this agreement, all of the PGA of South Africa’s partners and affiliates now automatically become partners with CMASA, which is the representative body for recreation and sports clubs in South Africa, including golf clubs.

The partnership agreement gives golf and sports club general managers and CEOs access to such high-end brands as Avis, Club Car, Diners Club, Ernie Els Wines, Hirsch’s, Leisure Brands, SG Liquor Merchants, Mercedes-Benz, Stellenbrau, Turkish Airlines, Wiesenhof, BOS Brands, Tsogo Sun and many others.

These clubs will be able to benefit from specially negotiated deals that, because of the collective brand power, could result in major cost savings on the clubs’ bottom lines.

“This new partnership means that the PGA of South Africa and CMASA are now supporting the same partners,” said Andy Bean, Business Manager for the PGA of South Africa.

“These partners are already significant investors in South African golf, and the partnership with CMASA means a greater value add for their investment as they are now exposed to more decision makers within South African golf.

“In the past the PGA of South Africa has been a great door opener for our partners in the industry. But through this partnership with CMASA we now have an incredibly strong relationship that is now also a call-to-action on behalf of our partners.”

Janyne Marais, the General Manager of CMASA, said the new partnership stemmed from a shared vision to add value to the existing partners within the South African golf industry while at the same time unlocking new opportunities for its members.

“We are thrilled to enter into this partnership with the PGA of SA as not only does it provide for opportunity to enhance sustainable business practices to our member clubs in their day-to-day operation, it also allows CMASA and the PGA of SA to work together in delivery of credible and beneficial product and service offerings to our members.”
