Scottish Golf Union (SGU) – the governing body for amateur golf in Scotland – has chosen Macdonald Hotels & Resorts as its official hotel partner for its 218,000 golf club members.

This landmark partnership brings together the leading golf hotel group in Scotland and the country’s official central body for the sport, allowing the duo to team up and provide the very best to Scottish golfers.

To offer added value, SGU in partnership with the Scottish Ladies Golfing Association (SLGA) provides club members with an exclusive Scottish Golf Membership Card and one of the benefits is now 15 per cent discount at Macdonald Hotel & Resorts across the UK.

Keith Pickard, Group Director of Golf at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts said: “It’s testament to our strong Scottish links to have been chosen as the official hotel partner for the Scottish Golf Union. We pride ourselves on the fact that we have well maintained courses, individual hotels, fine quality food and more importantly a consistently high quality of service.”

“We are dedicated to building long-lasting partnerships with official golf bodies, to further strengthen our brand in the sport and position ourselves as leaders in the industry. We look forward to welcoming SGU players to our courses and hotels very soon.”

Members of SGU and SLGA affiliated clubs will be able to use this card at more than 40 venues across the UK, as well as all five of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts golf venues which includes, the world famous Macdonald Spey Valley in Aviemore, Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf & Spa, Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa, Macdonald Cardrona Hotel, Golf & Spa and Macdonald Linden Hall Golf & Country Club.

Brian Mair, Commercial Manager at Scottish Golf Union said: “Our members expect to receive added value from us through leading brand partners, so it was a natural fit to team up with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, with its world-class golf courses and luxury hotels.

“We’re confident that our members will be thrilled with the venues, as well as all that they offer such as the highest quality food and first-class service.”

In addition to the special hotel rates, the card also gives SGU members access to other benefits such as preferential green rates, a free HandicAPP smartphone app, entry to exclusive competitions and discounted tournament tickets in Scotland.
