Sir Bruce Forsyth putted the winning hole for the opening of Wonderful World of Golf in Sunningdale last Friday (13th June).

The official opening of the boutique golf shop, owned by successful local businessman, James Peters, was marked by Sir Bruce Forsyth as the guest of honour, who was presented with the iconic Odyssey 2-Ball putter.

Continuing with tradition, Sir Bruce arrived in style in a Bentley Continental, and was greeted by around 70 guests. Amongst them were familiar faces such as celebrated jockey, Declan Murphy, Ryder Cup player, Michael King, and CEO of the European Tour, George O’Grady.

“I was really honoured that keen golfer, Sir Bruce, was able to take time to officially open Wonderful World of Golf,” says owner, James Peters. “We had a great crowd to celebrate with, and it was fantastic to have the Odyssey 2-Ball putter make an appearance on the evening.”

“We all held our breath when Sir Bruce went to putt the opening ball, but thankfully it was a hole in one which was a relief for everyone. It was one of those moments which could have gone horribly wrong, but as usual, Sir Bruce was a true professional.”

James Peters has successfully run golf concessions in both Harrods and Selfridges, and has now decided to open his own venture in his hometown of Sunningdale.

“I wanted to create an upmarket boutique golf shop, whilst maintaining competitive prices throughout the ranges on offer,” explains James. “The concept of the store identity is built around the sporting heritage epitomized b y the American golfer, Ben Hogan, one of the greatest players in the history of the game.”

Wonderful World of Golf reflects the exclusive range of top golf brands available for both men and women, including Callaway, PING, TaylorMade, Titleist and Vega to name a few.
