The On Course Foundation is pleased to announce that Stewart Golf has become the latest company to employ one of the charity’s members. Rob Hansen has been taken on as part of the build team for Stewart Golf’s powered trolleys, which include the X9 Follow, X9 Remote and F1 Lithium.

The On Course Foundation supports the recovery of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans through the medium of golf. As well as training and teaching golf skills, OCF strives to create work experience and employment opportunities within the golf industry.

Stewart Golf is the latest in a growing number of organisations keen to show their support for the charity by working with its beneficiaries. Mark Stewart, Managing Director of Stewart Golf, explains why, “Ex-service men and women often find it hard to transition into civilian life, but their skill set and work ethic is exceptional.  Rob was perfect for the role we had available and I would definitely encourage more businesses to support the work that the On Course Foundation does.”

Rob has served with the Royal Corps of Signals since June 1996 with postings and detachments including the Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan.  In June 2012 Rob was injured in pre-deployment training which resulted in severe knee damage and a total knee replacement two years later and is due to be medically discharged from the Army next year.

“When I discovered the On Course Foundation in 2013, I had completely dismissed the idea of ever playing golf again let alone finding a new career in the industry,” explains Rob.  “I knew I wanted to continue in a more technical or engineering role so the On Course Foundation arranged for me to have an interview with Stewart Golf.  This job is perfect for me as I can do it within my limitations and gain experience at the same time.”

The On Course Foundation aims to create a pool of organisations in the golf industry that it can approach when a member is interested in pursuing a career in a particular field.  Companies who are interested in finding out more about how they can work with the On Course Foundation should contact Employment and National Liaison Officer Alex Woolston.
