TaylorMade introduces ‘Rescue’ Fairway

4.00am 1st April 2004 - Corporate

New from TaylorMade, maker of the Rescue Mid, is the Rescue Fairway, a breakthrough club that incorporates Rescue Mid features into a fairway wood, resulting in a club that’s remarkably easy to hit long, high and straight.
The Rescue Fairway, like the Rescue Mid, is engineered to combine a high launch angle with high spin-rate, resulting in high, long-carrying, fast-stopping shots.
When creating the Rescue Fairway, TaylorMade engineers started with the same Pull-Face steel construction and low profile employed in the Rescue Mid, but lengthened the Rescue Fairway’s club head from front to back and widened the clubface. These changes contribute to an exceptionally deep, low CG location that makes the Rescue Fairway incredibly easy to launch, and which adds forgiveness, particularly toward the toe and heel.
In addition, the Rescue Fairway’s moderate offset enhances the player’s ability to square the clubface to the ball and contributes to a high-yet-penetrating flight as well as solid contact and extreme accuracy. Meanwhile, the distance-enhancing elements of the Rescue Fairway allowed TaylorMade engineers to make these clubs one half-inch shorter than conventional fairway woods, resulting in increased club head control to promotes additional accuracy.
The Rescue Fairway also shares the Rescue Mid’s double sole design, which reduces the amount of sole area that contacts the turf, resulting in less resistance at impact, promoting solid contact. The double sole is also generously cambered from toe to heel, easing playability from all types of lies.
In terms of shafts, options include TaylorMade’s new MAS2 55 graphite shaft and Light Metal 2. The MAS2 55, available in S, R and M flexes, is engineered with a soft tip to increase launch angle and spin-rate. At 55 grams, it’s one of the lightest fairway wood shafts that TaylorMade has ever used. For players that prefer steel, the Light Metal 2, delivers improved launch conditions in a steel shaft. Available in S and R flexes.
“The Rescue Fairways are engineered to deliver a high, easy launch with increased spin,” says Sean Toulon, senior vice president of product and brand creation for TaylorMade. “Simply put, they are the easiest and most playable fairway woods we‘ve ever designed.”
TaylorMade’s Rescue Fairways will be available in three models: 3 , 5 , and 7. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price per club is £149 / €219 graphite, £129 / €189 steel and they will be available from April 2004.
