Titleist dominating UK ball sales

8.00am 24th May 2002 - Corporate

According to new independent research the success on Tour of the Titleist Pro V1 over the last two years has carried through to the amateur golf market place and Titleist has strengthened its market leadership.

The March retail audit report from Sports Marketing Surveys shows Titleist with a 28.7% unit share of the UK golf ball market. In terms of ‘share by value’ Titleist took 39% of sales, which is more than three times as much as the next brand.

The encouraging aspect for the #1 ball brand is that it is not just the Pro V1 that is contributing to the high sales figures. With closer inspection of golf ball shares by model, the SMS survey reveals that the top 5 selling golf balls, in terms of value share, are all Titleist models!

John Peal, Titleist’s European marketing director, comments, “ Of course we are delighted with the success of the Pro V1 but it is equally pleasing to see our other models performing so well. Our success over the years has been built on producing a full line of golf balls to suit the needs of a wide variety of golfers and we will continue to invest heavily in R&D to meet those requirements”.
