Two product launches by Callaway

12.05am 22nd December 2004 - Corporate

Callaway Golf Company (NYSE:ELY) has debuted its new Big Bertha® Titanium 454 Driver — at 454 cubic centimetres, the largest driver the Company has ever brought to market.
The Big Bertha Titanium 454 Driver has already established a reputation as the world’s longest driver. In the Open Division of the World Long Drive Championship, (which will be shown on American television on Christmas Day), David Mobley put the Big Bertha Titanium 454 into play and crushed a winning drive of 377 yards, successfully ending his 15-year quest for the world’s longest driver crown with a victory over a strong field of 128 other long-hitters.
“Since the beginning, the best drivers from Callaway Golf have combined distance and forgiveness,” said Bill Baker, chairman and CEO. “The Big Bertha Titanium 454 Driver is the latest and best in both those respects. When we measure this club against the original standards set by our founder, I can say without fear of contradiction that the Big Bertha Titanium 454 Driver is ‘Demonstrably Superior and Pleasingly Different‘.”
The Big Bertha Titanium 454 Driver will carry a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $375 and will ship to retailers from the beginning of January.
Callaway’s new X-18 ™ and X-18 Pro Series Irons are the latest version of the best-selling X-Series Irons that have long been the favourite of a broad spectrum of the world’s golfers. “The new X-18 and X-18 Pro Series Irons are evidence of our ongoing commitment to bringing better golf clubs for all golfers, regardless of their ability,” said Bill Baker. “Beginning in 1997 with the X-12 Irons, each edition of the X-Series has set the standard for superior performance. These new X-18s continue that tradition of superb playability, and they are the best-looking X-Series irons we have ever produced. We are really proud of them.”
X-18 Irons will carry a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $110 per club for steel-shafted models and $140 per club for graphite-shafted models and will ship to retailers from the beginning of January.
