Williams Racing Golf to Drive Longer in Scotland

10.35am 5th April 2016 - Corporate

Williams Racing Golf CFD8Williams Racing Golf (WRG) will be strongly represented at the opening 2016 Long Drivers European Tour (LDET) tournament at St Andrews this week, with three top-ranked players using the brand’s revolutionary MR Driver – including reigning champion Maurice Allen from the United States.

WRG is the new main sponsor of the LDET circuit, which begins on Saturday 9th April at Fairmont St Andrews. Nine other events will feature across Europe this year, before the finale in the MASTERS LDET CUP event in November.

The MR Driver with a 7.5° loft has been used to hit carries of over 400 yards and will be in the hands of Maurice Allen and other top long drivers at St Andrews, such as Frederik Frost and Adrian Sanchez – who both finished in the top eight of the 2015 rankings. Also entered for his first event as a Tour professional is leading WRG club tester and former rugby player Ilija Djurdjević from Serbia.

Thanks to input from Williams Racing team’s engineers and access to its unrivalled R&D in aerodynamics, WRG has crafted its MR Driver to maximise speed, control and power for outstanding performance. The brand’s exclusive Modulus Rebound technology conforms to R&A regulations, but pushes rules to the limit in terms of a rebound-effect generating higher club head speed.

“Williams has a rich heritage as a British brand, so it’s fitting that the first Long Drivers tournament sponsored by Williams Racing Golf is held in this country,” said CEO Ricardo Gali. “We are delighted to be providing many of the leading long drive professionals with unrivalled aerodynamic technology and fully expect it to prove its value to golfers looking to hit the ball consistently longer and straighter.”

Xavier Eusebio, Director and Founder of LDET, said: “We are proud that a top quality brand like Williams Racing Golf has joined us as a main sponsor of the Long Drivers European Tour. The performance of its MR Driver has already made a big impression on the tour and we welcome the level of professional expertise the brand will bring to the events for the benefit of players and spectators alike.”

WRG offers accomplished golfers two high-performance club ranges – the Players Series and the Gold Series – designed by Williams’ racing engineers using cutting edge technology and featuring radical aerodynamic features, advanced materials and precision crafting. Each Series comprises of a driver, fairway woods, hybrids, irons (5-PW), wedges and a putter inspired by the brand’s strong racing heritage.

A full set of Gold Series’ customised clubs with matching bag and umbrella has a RRP of £3,890.
