Catering for Metro golfers

1.53am 20th February 2003 - Course Development

The Metro Golf Centre in north London has awarded a concession to specialist caterers Leeming Pilkington to operate its restaurant and bar facility. The 5 year contract is expected to have a turnover in excess of £500K per annum and involves responsibility for an extensive refurbishment of the existing facility with the addition of a Conservatory bar and lounge area. The Metro Golf Centre has over 2,500 members.

Leeming Pilkington will start operating the existing facility this month with a new food offering and will employ 9 people including 2 chefs. Work on the refurbishment will start immediately and is due to be completed by late Spring. The refurbishment will add an extensive conservatory and heated patio to the existing restaurant area, almost doubling capacity to 80 people. This will constitute a sit down restaurant serving contemporary bistro cuisine and a relaxed lounge area serving lighter meals.

Chris Meadows, managing director of the Metro Golf Centre, said, “Leeming Pilkington’s creative suggestions for the new refurbishment showed a real understanding of our customers’ idea of what leisure is all about. When it’s finished the Conservatory will reflect this and be a comfortable and welcoming place for both members and non-members to come to eat, drink and relax. “

Richard Leeming, co-founder of Leeming Pilkington said, “Although the majority of our current work is in commercial contract catering, our background is in hotels and restaurants and so we were delighted to get this opportunity. This contract demonstrates the breadth of our service offering and skills.”
