Golf At Goodwood, one of England’s most distinctive and unique sporting venues, has updated its vehicle fleet with 20 new custom-built Precedent i2 vehicles from Club Car, the world’s largest manufacturer of small-wheel electric vehicles.

The golf cars, delivered by the official supplier to St Andrews Links Trust and The European Tour, will supplement the venue’s iconic fleet of 38 ‘Woody’ cars, which are built on a Club Car chassis and modelled on the Brakenvan, a 1934 design by Lord March’s grandfather, the ninth Duke of Richmond.

“Golf At Goodwood aims to provide a unique experience for everyone that visits this iconic sporting venue, which is why we only choose to work with leading brands,” commented Stuart Gillett, General Manager for Golf At Goodwood.

“Club Car is, without doubt, an industry leader and its high quality golf cars have continued to deliver the excellence and reliability we look for in a supplier, which made extending our partnership a very easy decision to make.”

The specifications of the top of the range Club Car Precedent i2 vehicles at Golf At Goodwood, include customised seats, alloy wheels, club branding and have all been carefully selected to complement the venues iconic ‘Woody II’ vehicles.

Stuart continued, “One of our key values at Golf At Goodwood is ‘dare to be different’ and we worked closely with Club Car to create a bespoke vehicle specifically for our course.

“We were the first club in Europe to adopt the ‘Pelican’ seat on our vehicles five years ago and continue to seek ‘first adopter’ opportunities, like the on-board chargers and USB points we’ve requested on our new cars. The flexibility the company showed in helping us with the project was testament to our burgeoning relationship.”

Golf At Goodwood sits on the chalk hills of the South Downs and therefore enjoys quick drying courses, enabling golf cars to be used throughout the year, but, as Stuart explains, this can place a strain on the fleet.

“Our unique location, coupled with the high usage of vehicles, means we have to be able to rely on our suppliers to deliver outstanding customer service and first-class aftercare to ensure the fleet is running at all times – something Bradshaw, Club Car’s official distributor, has delivered time and again.

“Knowing that we are working with such a renowned golf car manufacturer and its trusted distributor, fills us with confidence and we look forward to further developing this relationship with Club Car and Bradshaw over the coming years.”
