Jeff Howes Golf Design gain 36-hole China project

9.42am 9th March 2012 - Course Development

River Course - Hole 8, a par 3 - measuring 136m

Jeff Howes Golf Design announce their latest project which is the 36 hole Golf & Real Estate “Liu Jiang International Golf Club” project close to the south-western city of Liuzhou, Guangxi Province in China.

The site is located some 15 minutes drive from downtownLiuzhouin the very scenic Bifurong Recreational Area. The wide, slow moving & meandering River Liu forms the sites’ northern & eastern boundaries. The River & Mountain Courses are routed to take advantage of the many spectacular views of the Karst (limestone) mountains for which the region is renowned.

Both of the courses will be uniquely different in character – The River Course as its name suggests embodies the river frontage holes and is flatter in elevation terms. Its’ bunkers will be less formal in shape and altogether it will have a wild / natural appearance to it with large areas of tall fescues being used for separation and contrast. In all 8 of the holes on the River Course are played alongside the river.

The Mountain Course is located closer to the Karst Limestone hills, it will have more formal shaped bunkers, it has greater changes in elevation and will have more tree-lined holes than the River Course.

The first of the courses to be completed will be the River Course. Currently most of the bulk earthworks have been completed and the fine shaping stage has commenced with 3 shapers being committed by the development group. With water quality and scarcity being an issue inChinathe use of Paspalum for all greens, tees & fairways has been welcomed by the authorities.

It is hoped the River Course will be open for play late October of this year.
