Today, Mr. Stewart Newport, the Guinness World Records ‘ Keeper of the Record‘, has accredited Mission Hills Golf Club as the ‘World’s Largest Golf Club‘, witnessed by VIPs including the Minister of Tourism and the Minister of Sports, heads of other ministries, the vice-governor of Guangdong province, the mayors of Shenzhen and Dongguan and Mr. HU Jianguo, president, China Golf Association
Mission Hills Golf Club has ten 18-hole ‘championship courses‘. The first Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole World Cup course was completed in 1994. In the decade that followed, Mission Hills commissioned nine other top international golfers, from five continents to create the ten-course legend, intending to pave the way forward for China’s sports-related tourism, as well as to attract foreign direct investment into the Pearl River Delta region. Earlier this month Greg Norman hosted the inauguration of the 10th course, which was named after him.
Today, Mission Hills provides employment for over 5,000 people and represents an investment of over US$400 million (HK$3 billion). It has played host to over thirty international tournaments.
