Portmore Golf Park is situated in the heart of North Devon on the outskirts of Barnstable and within 1 mile of the A361. Portmore was established in 1993 and is owned and run by the Webber family, it consists of an 18 hole main course called ‘Barum’ and a 9 hole par 3 course called ‘Landkey’.
Portmore is also home to a fantastic modern clubhouse that serves hot food and drinks all day and a brilliant driving range that has just been made even better with the introduction of Power Tee.
Power Tee is a state of the art automated teeing system, a new ball is electronically put onto the tee after each shot without the person hitting having to move. You really do have to see it to believe it.
The Power Tee system can be found in over 300 driving ranges across UK, Europe and the USA. With clubs such as Wentworth, The Belfry, Celtic Manor and St Andrews enjoying the benefits Power Tee brings to the facility and the customer, it is easy to see why Portmore Golf Park have added their name to the illustrious list.
Portmore are continually improving their already great facilities, the recent refurbishment of the clubhouse has meant they can accommodate 200 people for Sunday Carvery, societies or functions, and the new changing rooms have been fitted with modern showers and toilets and beautiful wooden lockers.
The range itself is a great space with scenic views across the valley, but it has just set itself apart from any range within an hour’s drive by installing Power Tee.
We caught up with Josh Webber the Head Greenkeeper to see why they installed Power Tee and the benefits it will bring to the facility and the customer.
“We are always looking at ways to improve our facility and move with the times, we have done the necessary changes to the building to accommodate more people and give our customers better facilities, now with the introduction of Power Tee we can give them something different, something exciting and something that is going to improve their golf.
“Since we installed Power Tee we have had amazing feedback. They are a real asset to the facility and above all the customers love them. The Power Tee motto is right – ‘better practice better play’ – and now we can offer our customers the best practice facility for them to improve and enjoy their golf. It’s great to see people really starting to improve their game just by spending time on the power tees!”
