The Gleneagles Hotel, Scotland, has extended its longstanding relationship with Club Car, ensuring the world’s largest manufacturer of small-wheel, zero emissions electric vehicles will continue to supply the prestigious venue until at least 2017.

The 2014 Ryder Cup venue will update its existing fleet of golf cars, taking delivery of 40 new Precedent vehicles, supplied and serviced by Club Car distributor, MTS Group, which recently opened a new Scotland-based facility in Cumbernauld – just 30 miles from Gleneagles Hotel.

The fleet will feature the latest Visage GPS technology, giving golfers precise shot and distance information, flyover video graphics, plus a live leaderboard during competitions. It will also enable Gleneagles’ staff to remotely control each car, optimise course maintenance with ‘no-drive’ zones and monitor pace-of-play.

Andrew Fairnie, Golf Services Manager at The Gleneagles Hotel, said: “Our guests have high expectations when they come to golf at Gleneagles, and the classic aesthetics and high quality finish on the Club Car vehicles have met their needs perfectly. The GPS system in particular has been very popular – in addition to providing course information, it even allows golfers to email themselves their score card to review at home.”

The new deal comes hot on the heels of The 2014 Ryder Cup, in which Club Car, as an Official Supplier, played an important role. The company supported operations before, during and after the event, providing its largest ever fleet of more than 540 vehicles.

Peter Watson, Managing Director of MTS Group, said: “Part of the reason for opening our new facility in Scotland was to assist with The Ryder Cup operations at Gleneagles, however, having a foothold in the region has consequently helped us provide the flexibility of service that the Perthshire venue, as well as many other golf operations in Scotland, will find invaluable.”
