London Golf Show on course for record

12.35am 2nd March 2005 - Exhibitions & Conferences

With seven weeks to go until the start of the four-day golfing extravaganza, advance tickets sales are approaching 20,000 and the show organisers are hopeful of record numbers, with 60,000 now thought to be a realistic target. This would make the event the biggest ever launch consumer show in the UK – not just for golf, but for anything
Speaking at the official press launch, Ross Broadstock, managing director of the London Golf Show, said he was delighted with the response from both the golfing industry and the golfing public – and that it all goes to show how dynamic the game of golf is in the UK.
“We are very pleased with the response out there to our idea,” he said. “We always believed we had hit upon the right way to help promote golf in the UK, with an exciting blend of activities and, crucially, the opportunity for people to buy things at discounted prices. We were hoping we could ignite the imagination of golfers and those involved in the industry and it looks like we have done just that.”
Mr Broadstock, who, together with his colleagues, is an experienced exhibitions organiser, said that around 300 exhibitors would be participating. With endorsements from top industry figures, partnerships with some of the biggest names in the game, and a host of celebrities coming along to join in the fun, the show at London’s Excel was sure to be a great day out.
Visitors will be able to take advantage of great show prices on top brand golf equipment, meet with the pros, get advice, see and buy the latest in golf fashion and explore a whole world of golfing destinations and holidays – all in the centre of London.
In addition there will be fantastic prizes – including a car and a five-star holiday – up for grabs in various interactive competitions and events, ranging from a hole-in-one competition on a floating green in the Victoria Docks, to a putting competition on the indoor arena.
Docklands‘ ExCel Centre plays host to the London Golf Show 21-24 April. Tickets to the event cost £10 in advance, or £15 on the door; under-16s £5 in advance or £7.50 on the door and are available from Ticketmaster, online at: www.ticketmaster.co.uk or by calling freephone 08701 451205.
