Partners of TGI Golf – Europe’s leading golf retail services group, owned by PGA Professionals – received the perfect kick start to their preparations for the golf season at the group’s annual Business Conference.

Staged at the Marriott Worsley Park resort, Partners from across the UK came together to witness seminars from a range of experts, including Callaway Vice President of Research & Development Dr Alan Hocknell and one of the world’s leading club fitting experts, Daryl Evans of TaylorMade.

Those in attendance left rejuvenated and full of ideas ahead of the new season following a series of educational seminars over the course of two days on subjects including Social Media, branding, youth golf, club fitting and business planning.

Seminars were lead by experts in their field including world-renowned social media expert Dr Jim Hamill, Phil Barnard of Crossover Technologies, Peter Jackson from US Kids Golf and branding expert Neil Donavan from Spinnaker.

The highly committed PGA Professionals who own TGI Golf travelled from across the UK and Ireland to attend, some covering vast distances to ensure they were part of the event.

Brian Anderson, Head Pro at Brora Golf Club, in the Scottish Highlands, put in a round trip of nearly 850 miles, insisting it was worth every effort.

“This is a great learning experience no matter who you are.” he said. “This is a spectacular event, there are some wonderful people sharing their professional expertise, you really can take an awful lot from it.”

Brian, a PGA Professional for more than 50 years, is still as keen to learn today as he was when he started out in the golf industry.

He added: “I’ve been involved in golf for a long time, but you should always be willing to learn and there’s always new things you need to know to move your business on.

“The Business Conference is a wonderful kick start to the season as you leave fired up with new ideas you’ve never thought of or you revisit some of those you’ve looked at before, it’s a great stimulus.”

Eddie Reid, TGI Golf Managing Director, who closed the event with an inspiring Back to Basics appraisal of the golf industry, was moved by the response received from Partners.

He said: “It is a testament to the high quality businessmen and women that we have within the group that so many Partners turn up to these events ready and willing to learn as many skills as possible to help them further their knowledge.

“We at TGI are consistently looking at ways of helping our Partners enhance their businesses and profits, this event is another example of how we do this – it’s what we do.”
