Golphinforkids Targets America

10.40am 15th January 2015 - Growing the Game

GolphinforkidsGolphinforkids, the exciting new range of lightweight, easy-to-hit children’s golf clubs, is looking to expand into America by exhibiting at the PGA Merchandise Show for the first time.

The brand is fast becoming a phenomenon in the way youngsters are introduced to swinging a club for the first time, with more than 130 UK teaching professionals now using its equipment for children’s lessons.

Developed in Scotland, Golphinforkids will be exhibiting in Orlando at booth #3259 and also feature in the show’s popular New Product Zone.

Golphinforkids clubs are unlike any other. With aerospace engineering and design at their core, they’re lighter and more forgiving than conventional junior clubs.

As a result, children find it much easier to take them away smoothly, swing, make contact with the ball and get it airborne.

The brainchild of Scotland-based businessman Calum McPherson and developed in partnership with PGA professionals and biomechanics experts at Strathclyde University, Golphinforkids has been chosen by both France’s Le Golf National and Ireland’s Confederation of Golf to use to further enhance their kids’ golf initiatives.

Said Calum: “We’re delighted and excited to be showcasing the Golphinforkids concept at the PGA Merchandise Show. PGA Professionals in the UK have really taken to our brand and what we’re trying to achieve with the design of the clubs, which is to make golf easier and more enjoyable for children.

“PGA coaches were telling us most kids give up because they find it too difficult to swing the heavy clubs and therefore don’t have fun. Our goal is to encourage more kids in to the game and to keep them in the game because they are having fun.”

Golphinforkids clubs are grouped in age and height brackets 3-5 (39-47″), 6-8 (47-53″) and 9-11 (53″-58”). Clubs are available individually and sets include a driver, 7 iron, putter and ‘swedger’ – a super-forgiving wedge – along with a bag and Dolphin driver headcover.

The branding has a strong affiliation with dolphins to present a fun, friendly image to the kids.

For teaching professionals, a special coaching pack consist of 12 clubs, a bag and three headcovers and since launching at the Scottish Golf Show in March and exhibiting at The Golf Show in Harrogate, Golphinforkids has gone from strength to strength.

The brand was selected by The R&A as the product of choice for junior coaching at their Kids SwingZone during the Open Championship.
