Keiser University College of Golf & Sport Management Unveils New Degree Program

Keiser University College websiteThe Keiser University College of Golf & Sport Management (COGSM) announces its highly successful Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with Golf Management Concentration degree program will be available on campus, beginning September 1, 2014.

Originally offered online, the popular program generated increasing demand from students seeking an ‘on-the-ground’ bachelor’s program option, and the new program will now give Keiser University COGSM students maximum flexibility in completing their degrees.

Students with an Associate’s degree or higher can complete the Bachelor of Science in Sport Management with Golf Management Concentration degree in as few as 20 months and take advantage of the unique playing privileges at the Keiser University COGSM throughout their studies, such as the 5,000-square-foot indoor training facility, PGA-certified instructor guidance and access to the PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance in Port St. Lucie. Students who do not currently hold an Associate’s degree can complete the Associate of Science in Golf Management degree and the Bachelor’s degree in only 34 months.

“By offering this program on ground we provide our students with the opportunity to continue their education, obtain a Bachelor’s Degree, and pursue their passion of playing and taking lessons from highly experienced PGA faculty in higher education,” says John McMurry, Campus Vice President of Keiser University College of Golf & Sport Management. “We will continue to offer the program on-line and run it concurrently with the on-ground program which will provide our students with multiple and flexible options to complete their degree should something in their life change. This program will provide our students with the education, experience and confidence to start their career in the golf Industry and prepare themselves for success.”

During the Keiser University COGSM degree in Golf Management program, students are prepared for a variety of positions in the golf industry, including golf instruction, manage golf course operations, golf facility maintenance, golf club fitting repair and much more. Keiser University COGSM’s Bachelor of Science in Sport Management degree (with a concentration in golf management) focuses on the managerial and business aspects of a career in golf. The curriculum supports an expanded professional role of sports managers and graduates of associate degree programs in golf, hospitality, fitness, sports, recreation and other related fields.

The Keiser University COGSM campus features a 20,000-square-foot facility which includes a 1,500-square-foot indoor putting green, advanced launch monitor technology, an interactive golf simulator powered by Sports Coach Systems, TaylorMade MAT-T swing analysis system, and a golf club repair lab equipped by Mitchell Golf Equipment. Students also receive access to the highly acclaimed PGA Center for Golf Learning and Performance where they can practice on a 35-acre lighted practice range, short game areas, bunker facility and extensive putting greens. Keiser University College of Golf & Sport Management also gives students access to several PGA Master Professionals, such as Brian Hughes and Dr. Eric Wilson, as well as Golf Magazine top 100 teacher Dr. T.J. Tomasi.
