8.00am 3rd July 2006 - Management Topics

A new Junior Organisers’ Handbook has been produced by England Golf partners the English Golf Union (EGU) and English Ladies’ Golf Association (ELGA). The handbook provides information for junior organisers to help and support the development of junior golf within their club.
A copy of the handbook has already been sent to all EGU affiliated golf clubs and offers advice and guidance on various aspects of junior golf within the club environment. Divided into easy to access sections it covers topics such as activities and coaching, handicapping and competitions, and the recruitment and retention of members. It also provides examples of best practice already in place a clubs around the country.
Richard Flint, golf development manager commented, “The new updated handbook provides a great resource to help golf clubs develop their junior section. Along with other our other development initiatives such as the GolfMark Award and our regional development officer network we hope to continue to improve our support to clubs in this important area.”
Copies of the Junior Organisers’ Handbook, priced at £14, are available to purchase either online at the EGU website shop, www.englishgolfunion.org or by calling the EGU’s Club Services team on 01526 354500. Alternatively the handbook can be downloaded electronically in sections from the EGU website.
The Junior Organisers’ Handbook is jointly provided by the EGU and ELGA via the England Golf Partnership’s ‘Whole Sport Plan’ for golf.
