Golfers have given their unanimous approval to QHotels’ new QFairway club after the UK’s largest golf resort operator launched the country’s most flexible golf membership initiative with a series of open days.

The AA Hotel Group of the Year offered golfers old and new the chance to experience the new membership scheme and enjoy a round of golf at a selection of its venues across England and Scotland last weekend.

Under the initiative, players can enjoy up to 50 rounds of golf for only £375 – along with access to an impressive 15 golf courses.

Despite some inclement weather conditions, hundreds of players took up the invitation to attend the open days, with a quarter of the people attending signing up to QFairway as a result.

Events took place at four of QHotels’ golf resorts – Aldwark Manor Golf & Spa Hotel, near York; Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort, north Lincolnshire; Hellidon Lakes Golf & Spa Hotel, Daventry, Northamptonshire and the Telford Hotel & Golf Resort, Shropshire; with the days at the Westerwood Hotel & Golf Resort, near Glasgow, cancelled after falling victim to bad weather.

As well as 18 holes of golf, guests also received complimentary practice range balls, with a free ‘swing and grip check’ available before the round and food and drinks in the bar afterwards, and QHotels were delighted with the positive response they received.

John Angus, QHotels’ group director of golf, said: “QFairway is one of the biggest membership drives that have taken place in golf in recent years and the response of everyone that attended the open days is hugely encouraging.

“One of our key aims at QHotels is to grow the game at the grassroots level and we believe we have delivered an initiative that does just that.

“Whether you play once a week, once a month, or even require a corporate membership, there will be a points level to suit you. If you start playing more, topping up the points is quick and easy to do – and it comes with all the features members enjoy elsewhere but without the often extortionate fees levied by their clubs. We’re very excited at what the future holds.”

QHotels – which includes such prestigious venues as The Carrick at Cameron House and Slaley Hall in its portfolio – believes QFairway ushers in a new era of membership designed by and for the 21st century golfer – including offering free junior memberships to children aged 15 and under providing their parent or guardian also has adult membership at the same time.

The QFairway flexible points-based membership gives players all the benefits of a traditional club membership – including the facility to hold a handicap and playing rights for club competitions – while offering discount on food and drink, shop purchases, tuition, hotel bed-and-breakfast rates, and, most impressively, access to all of QHotels’ 15 golf courses.

Points may be used for golf, leisure club and spa facilities (where applicable), the driving range and even on buggy hire – all whenever and wherever the member requires. What’s more, unlike traditional golf club memberships, there is no joining fee, meaning that for a relatively small outlay keen nomadic golfers can now achieve their dream of belonging to a club, with all the friendly social benefits that entails.

There is an even better value option at selected hotels, where for just £295 players can enjoy golf at their chosen home club only.

The multi-award-winning, four and five-star QHotels collection offers championship-standard courses in unique resort locations – and now it also provides the perfect membership package for all golfers.
