3.38pm 14th February 2014 - Management Topics

National Golf MonthPlans for a major UK golf industry initiative aiming to recruit 100,000 lapsed or new golfers to the game are to be presented at GolfBIC (Golf Business Industry Convention), March 10-11 at the Marriott Forest of Arden.

Taking place in May 2014, National Golf Month, is supported and partnered by a variety of industry stakeholders including national governing bodies (NGBs), manufacturers and organisations, plus official media partner, Bauer Media.

Using its extensive portfolio of brands spanning print and broadcast media, Bauer Media is funding and organising a comprehensive advertising campaign to coincide with the initiative making the public aware of specific National Golf Month deals offered by Golf Clubs, Driving Ranges, and PGA Professionals throughout May.

National Golf Month will be advertised in 23 printed publications and 26 national radio stations. Total media coverage of this campaign will go out to 23.7million, plus there will be further support through all advertising and marketing support from the partners.

Doug Poole, Project Director for National Golf Month, said: “Your support for National Golf Month is needed to help us hit our goals and targets.

“All the major Golf Unions and Associations, Golf Clubs, DrivingRanges, Golf Manufacturers and PGA Professionals have already signed up and, working together with your support, we can change the trend and get more players on our courses having fun and enjoying this great game.”

Doug added: “NGM will only succeed if every supplier within the golf industry pulls together to change the decline in the number of golfers playing at present. Golf is fun, and a game for life, so let’s get more ladies, men and children out there playing in 2014.”

GolfBIC is a joint venture between The UK Golf Course Owners Association (UKGCOA) and The Organisation of Golf & Range Operators (OGRO). More than 270 delegates attended the 2013 event, which featured insightful seminars, topical workshops, tabletop exhibition, networking and a charity dinner.

The two-day agenda for GolfBIC 2014 includes special presentations on business rates, VAT and taxation, Growing golf in the UK, new membership types, online commerce, social media, updating your course design, adventure golf, super-ranges and more. There will also be a panel discussion featuring industry leaders answering questions on a variety of topical issues. To register, email Debbie Goddard at: debbie.goddard@ukgcoa.comor call 02476 414999 x 206
