Mobiplex™ Inc., a Silicon Valley venture specializing in mobile sports performance technology based on miniature wireless sensors and mobile device apps, has raised $3.1 million in Series A funding from a group of private investors. The investment will accelerate global sales growth and advance product innovation for Mobiplex’s SwingTIP™ product suite.
In September 2012, Mobiplex launched its first product, the SwingTIP Golf Swing Analyzer — an innovative Bluetooth-enabled 3D motion sensor unit that clips onto a golf club to capture, analyze and reproduce a golf swing in three dimensions. SwingTIP helps golfers improve their swing by sending real-time visual and performance data to an Apple iOS (iPhone®, iPod Touch®, iPad®) or Android® device, as well as to the MySwingTIP.com personal performance tracking website.
Mobiplex sells SwingTIP on SwingTIP.com and has formal sales and distribution partnerships with Amazon, Butler Golf, Dr. Bott, Golf Galaxy, MKRAK Management, PlayBetterGolf.com and SmartHome.com.
“With an initial focus on the impassioned world of golf, Mobiplex aims to advance the field of wireless sports performance technology,” said Vijay Nadkarni, Founder and CEO of Mobiplex. “Our exciting pipeline of new SwingTIP product features will deliver the ultimate interactive and social learning experience that’s engaging and fun for friends and family, as well as instructors to use with students.”
The Mobiplex team has a strong track record of building startup companies and corporate business units from inception to major industry successes. The seasoned executive team has several decades of indoctrination in all relevant areas of business including wireless and mobile technology, sales and marketing, manufacturing, operations and golf.
SwingTIP was developed with feedback from golfers, instructors and expert advisors including: Craig Stadler, Masters Tournament Champion; Ray Leach, former PGA player, NCAA record holder and instructor at Peacock Gap Golf Club; and David Butler, a 2011 Golf Digest Best Club Fitter and expert with advanced golf swing analysis technology.
