After EnviroBunker

Envirosports recently announced their arrival to the Golf industry with the launch of ‘EnviroBunker’ at the 2011 BTME Harrogate show.

The unique and highly innovative design has been granted the status of ‘registered design’ by the IP Office and has been constructed on some well known and prestigious golf courses local to the company in South Wales.

These include Pyle and Kenfig, Southerndown, Clyne, and Maesteg (BIGGA Environmental Competition finalists in 2008 and 2010).

What’s all the fuss about?

Before EnviroBunker

Enviro-Bunker offers a genuinely viable solution to the age old problem of Bunker Erosion.

“The problem of bunker erosion has never really been solved, yet it is one of the single most frustrating, time consuming and costly issues that plagues greenkeepers world-wide. We think we have a solution,” says Rhydian Lewis, Director Envirosports Ltd.

The Benefits of ‘Enviro-Bunker’ are clear to see and include:

Envirosports are offering a 10 year guarantee on the product such is their confidence in its performance.

“The first Envirobunker is now 3 years old, it looks better now than when it was first built, it shows no sign of any erosion or general wear and tare. The bunker face looks entirely natural and is built from material that is non bio-degradable, is highly UV resistant and is extremely strong. We believe the bunker will last a lifetime” says Rhydian Lewis Co-Director of EnviroSports.

What’s more the maintenance free bunker face represents significant monetary savings as well a drastic reduction in man hours over a 20 year cycle.

Andrew Mannion of Southerndown Golf Club, who played a leading role in the construction of EnviroBunker at Southerndown Golf Club, stated: “EnviroBunker is a truly innovative product. It looks fantastic and performs brilliantly; I would challenge anyone to spot the difference between a newly constructed natural bunker face and ‘EnviroBunker.”

The look of a revetted face with none of the maintenance issues, freeing up greenkeepers to focus on playing surfaces rather than hazards, has to be worth exploring.

As Laurence Pithe, Master Greenkeeper recently told the co-directors of Envirosports: “On many new courses, more time is spent maintaining hazards than putting greens. This is both ridiculous and financially unacceptable.”

“Enviro-Bunker is here to re-address the balance,” concludes Rhydian Lewis.
