European Tour caddy Steve Brotherhood is offering amateur golfers the kind of advice he gives Tour star David Howell after 12 years of carrying a bag on the world’s top courses.

His Tour Caddy Experience service is available to regular club players for as little as £60 over nine holes and backed by leading golf club rental firm ClubstoHire.com, who this week will be the first to offer customers the new TaylorMade M2 driver.

Steve, or ‘Bro’ as he’s known on Tour, has been caddying for Howell for the past five years and helped him to victory in the prestigious Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns in 2013. It was Howell’s first Tour title in six years.

Now the enterprising Tour caddy aims to give amateur golfers advice on yardages, club selection, reading greens and course management strategy, while providing each customer with a written report after the session to help them improve future scores.

“As well as carrying a bag on Tour for more than a decade, I’ve also competed as a professional – winning the Notts Open at my home club in Newark in 2015 – so I fully understand how difficult playing the game can be. The Tour Caddy Experience enables me to pass on skills and tips that are directly relevant to each golfer’s game, but not normally accessible to amateur players. Hopefully, my insight and knowledge will lead to lower scoring and more enjoyment on the course.”

Steve took up golf as an eight-year-old and became a scratch player aged 16. After earning his EuroPro Tour card at 21, he competed across Europe for three years, before becoming a caddy for Steve Webster on the European Tour in 2004 and winning the Italian Open together six months later. He has also worked on Tour with Paul Broadhurst and Anthony Wall and gained seven second-place finishes during his caddying career.

David Howell, who recently signed as a global brand ambassador for ClubstoHire, is supporting Steve with a video message on his website that encourages less accomplished golfers to take advantage of his caddy’s expertise. A profile of Steve is set to appear in the next edition of Today’s Golfer, on sale 22nd December.

A two-hour Tour Caddy Experience with Steve Brotherhood starts at £60 for a limited time only. For more information tourcaddyexperience@gmail.com
