The Junior Golf Alliance have welcomed Jonathan Shipstone onto their Executive Board in the position of Director of Education, spearheading the organisations online and workshop training offering.

Following completion of his undergraduate degree at the London School of Economics and graduation from Leeds University with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, Jonathan went on to study a Masters degree in Education at Sheffield University. His wide and varied teaching experience encompasses children in primary school years up to degree-level students at University.

Jonathan has a keen interest in distance learning and in addition to his role with the Junior Golf Alliance he is also Director of eLearning at Prince Sultan University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Co-founder of the Alliance, Neil Plimmer, says: “We’re delighted that Jonathan has joined the Executive Board. His knowledge of education, especially in primary school years, will be a great asset to the Alliance as we roll out our range of online and workshop courses for our members.

When coaching children and young people to play golf, we don’t believe the coach needs an in-depth knowledge of the golf swing or an advanced playing ability. Instead, we believe that they need to understand how children learn and are motivated to learn. This is why Jonathan’s appointment is so important to the organisation.”

The Alliance, who have just secured new offices in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, will be officially launching in early September, with their website going live for new membership enrolments in mid-August. For further information or to make contact with them, visit their social media channels below:
