Vernon Kay and Ronan Keating will line up on opposing teams when they take part in the Celebrity Cup at Celtic Manor from 4-5 July.

Kay, the popular presenter of ITV’s All Star Family Fortunes and new daytime quiz show 1,000 Heartbeats, will make his debut in the England team which won the Celebrity Cup last summer.

Kay said: “I’m really looking forward to playing in the Celebrity Cup for the first time this summer. I love my golf and I’ve heard some great things from some of the other guys who have competed before, about what a fun time they always have at this event.

“Let’s hope we can keep the Celebrity Cup in English hands again this year and raise a lot of money for the Caron Keating Foundation while we’re at it.”

Singing superstar Ronan Keating, who shot to fame with Boyzone before a hugely successful solo career, has announced that he will be back on the Irish team after getting his first taste of the action in 2014.

Keating will once again team up with his Boyzone bandmate Keith Duffy and former Westlife singer Brian McFadden for Ireland. Their ranks are further boosted by the return of television presenter Brian Ormond, who missed last year’s Celebrity Cup after playing in the inaugural tournament in 2013.

In the England team, Kay is joined by Rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall and Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Peter Jones who have both competed in the event for the last two years.

Hollywood actor Dougray Scott is another player returning to the fold when he lines up for Scotland with a trio of football legends, Kenny Dalglish, Alan Hansen and Gordon Strachan.

Television stars Rob Brydon, Philip Glenister and Gethin Jones will spearhead the home challenge for Wales in the round-robin format of nine-hole matches on Celtic Manor’s Roman Road course, culminating in a grand final and third place play-off on Sunday afternoon.

More celebrities are signing up to compete in teams of six for the event, which promises a full family day out with an interactive retail village and the opportunity to get up close to watch the stars in action.

Thousands of golf fans and celebrity spotters flocked to Celtic Manor in the sunshine last summer to watch England gain revenge over 2013 champions Scotland in the final. As well as top-notch golfing action and on and off-course banter, there will be Q&A interviews with other sports stars and live music in the tented village.

Visitors can also experience the VIP treatment in hospitality or the Premier Lounge, and join the celebs for a glittering gala dinner on the Saturday evening.
