Alan Hogg

Alan moves to Kingsbarns from the upscale golf resort Golf & Vital Park in Bad Waldsee in southern Germany. He has led the resort for seven years while deepening his experience in high end golf and hospitality management. Having spent most of his professional career in Germany, Alan utilised his experience to deliver a customer service focused strategy at the resort. At the same time, Alan earned an Open University Diploma in Golf Business Management in 2006 at the Institute of Sport, Recreation and Tourism in Düsseldorf.

Born and raised in Scotland, the former PGA touring golf professional and European Challenge Tour member is expected to take up his new position at the beginning of September this year.

Alan has been active in coaching junior golfers and he was named Coach of the Year by the German PGA in 2002. He achieved Master Professional Status in 2007 and was only the 7th out of 2200 German PGA members to do so.

An international recruitment process for the world’s Top 100 ranked Kingsbarns Golf Links Chief Exec post was carried out by Munro Consulting. The position attracted keen interest from over 120 highly qualified candidates with both golf and non-golf industry experience. In the end, Alan was selected to succeed Stuart McEwen who had managed the course from its opening in 2000.

Company Chairman Art Dunkley is delighted with the new appointment. “We are pleased to have a proven executive of Alan’s calibre join our dedicated management team. We are honoured to be ranked amongst the elite golf courses in the world and Alan has a clear vision of how to take Kingsbarns to an even higher standard of excellence.

“The large number of highly qualified executives who put their names forward for consideration was gratifying. I and our entire Kingsbarns team appreciate Alan’s commitment to return to Scotland to join Kingsbarns as its new Chief Executive.”

Alan Hogg said: “I am very much looking forward to taking up this position at Kingsbarns. It has deservedly earned a reputation as one of the finest golf courses in the world. This is a rare opportunity to work at such a prestigious course with its capable existing management team. After having worked overseas I am well aware of the high regard in which Kingsbarns is held within the golfing community.”

Alan Hogg is married to Audrey and has two sons who are both keen golfers: 16 year-old Jake has a +1 handicap and Joshua (14) plays off 4.
