Titleist asks, ‘Where’s Gerry?’

12.20am 26th November 2002 - People

Will the real Gerry Holden please step forward! That’s the message from market leading golf brand Titleist who have so far searched in vain for three months for a competition entrant who has won a dream golf holiday in a Titleist prize draw.

To celebrate its 23rd year in a row as the #1 golf ball at The Open Championship, Titleist held a prize draw on the Titleist exhibition stand during The Open at Muirfield in July. Entrants simply had to fill out a form giving their name, handicap and e-mail address to earn a chance to win the holiday. Gerry Holden’s name was the first out of the hat, drawn at random from over 500 entrants and has won the holiday to one of Europe’s top golfing destinations in the Algarve.

The holiday for two, provided by Longshot Golf Holidays in conjunction with Titleist, includes flights and car hire, 7 nights B&B accommodation at the Le Meridian Dona Filipa Hotel and 5 rounds of golf one of Europe’s finest courses, San Lorenzo. Despite several attempts to e-mail Gerry Holden, the Titleist marketing department has been unable to trace the winner.

John Peal, Titleist’s marketing director explains, “The only information we have is Gerry’s handicap, which is 24, an e-mail address and that they attended this year’s Open at Muirfield. We don’t even know what gender Gerry is! We very much want Gerry to get in contact so he or she can enjoy the wonderful prize courtesy of Titleist and Longshot but, unfortunately, our e-mails have not elicited a response.”

Titleist is so keen to find Gerry that it is offering a reward of one dozen Titleist Pro V1 golf balls to the first person who sends in the correct phone number or address for the correct Gerry Holden. All the winner will need to do is identify themselves and then look forward to a luxury golf break. Call 01480 301114 or email ukoffice@acushnetgolf.com quoting ‘Where’s Gerry?’ if you have the information.
