North Weald Golf Club sold

12.10am 6th February 2004 - Property

HLL Humberts Leisure, acting on behalf of Chris Herron and Nick O‘Reilly of Numerica, joint administrative receivers of Activepoint Ltd, reports the sale of North Weald Golf Club, Essex to Home Counties Golf & Leisure Ltd. Offers in the region of £1.25 – £1.5 million were invited for the freehold property.
North Weald Golf Club is located on the A414 east of Harlow, approximately 1½ miles from junction 7 of the M11 and some 5 miles from the M11/M25 interchange. The proprietary members‘ golf club, which was developed in 1995, comprises an 18 hole 6,377 yard (par 71) David Williams designed golf course, practice facilities, 845 sq m (9,100 sq ft) clubhouse, golf shop and greenkeepers compound, together with an Essex barn and let health club.
Ben Allen, who heads HLL Humberts Leisure’s golf agency team, handled the sale. He said, “North Weald Golf Club attracted huge interest in the market, reflecting its commercial trading location and great untapped trading potential. As anticipated, the opportunity was of particular appeal to new entrants to the golf market, who continue to ensure that the demand for and hence the price of golf courses remains buoyant.”
“HLL Humberts Leisure has agreed the sale of several other golf courses in recent weeks,” he continued, “further details of which will be confirmed shortly.”
Andrew Lloyd-Skinner of Home Counties Golf & Leisure said, “We are delighted with our acquisition of North Weald Golf Club, which we expect to be the first of several purchases. We look forward to working with the members to develop the club’s facilities and to ensure that North Weald Golf Club becomes a popular golfing and function venue for both the local community and visitors to west Essex”
