Open Champions gold putter

A commemorative gold putter celebrating the 22 Open Champions at the Old Course in St Andrews has gone on sale from the St Andrews Links website and from The Old Course Shop.

The magnificent limited edition gold plated putters, only 25 of which have been made, have the names of all 22 Open Championship Winners at St Andrews engraved on the sole with the official St Andrews Links logo engraved on the toe face of the putter.

The heads are cast in quality phosphorus bronze and, together with the shaft, collar and cap, are heavily gold plated.  The quality leather grip with a single gold line was commissioned from Gripmaster (Australia) specifically for this putter.

Each item comes with a Limited Edition Certificate signed by Alan McGregor, the Chief Executive of St Andrews Links Trust which manages the Old Course and the other six public courses in St Andrews.

This weighted and balanced putter is supplied in a handsome solid oak presentation case with brass inlay on the lid. The case is lined in beautiful navy blue velvet and has an engraved plaque inside the lid which features the official logo of St Andrews Links and the words “Open Winners at St. Andrews.”

The 150th anniversary Open Championship will take place on the Old Course from July 15-18. It will be the 28th time the Open has been played in St Andrews.

Kevin Liddle, merchandise manager at St Andrews Links Trust, said, “It is always special when the Open Championship returns to the Home of Golf and some of the greatest players in the game have won here including the likes of Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros and Tiger Woods. The limited edition gold putters will be the ideal memento for golf fans who wish to celebrate this rich heritage.”

The Open Champions gold putters can be purchased online at:  www.standrews.org.uk/shop/Golf-Gifts-Other-Gifts.aspx.
