It will be a star-studded affair at the British Masters supported by Sky Sports Pro-Am as a host of sporting legends prepare to share the fairways with a world-class field of golf professionals, notably Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and former AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko.

The traditional curtain-raiser for the tournament on Wednesday October 12 will raise funds for The Golf Foundation, the Official Charity of the British Masters, with some of the biggest names in football, rugby, motor racing, and snooker tackling the course at The Grove in Hertfordshire.

Ramsey and Shevchenko will be joined by a string of former international footballers including Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish, Champions League winner Teddy Sheringham, plus star strikers Niall Quinn, Robbie Fowler, and Gianfranco Zola.

A number of Sky Sports’ presenters and analysts will also take part in the showcase event raising money for the Official British Masters Charity, The Golf Foundation, including former footballers Jamie Redknapp, Matt Le Tissier and Neil McCann, alongside Damon Hill, the 1996 Formula 1 World Champion.

Other recognisable names in the Pro-Am include former rugby greats Will Greenwood, Mike Tindall and Keith Wood. Zinzan Brooke, the legendary Harlequins and All Blacks number eight, will also be teeing it up along with Scotland’s Stephen Hendry, a seven-time World Champion snooker player.

Jamie Birkmyre, Championship Director for the British Masters supported by Sky Sports, said: “We are delighted to welcome some of the world’s leaders in sport, entertainment and show business to the British Masters. The atmosphere generated at the Pro-Am between our European Tour professionals and the amateurs certainly makes for a fun and entertaining day out.

“Fortunately, we have a number of Sky Sports presenters and analysts who are great supporters of this tournament, and number of those are former athletes and golf enthusiasts, so we are always thrilled to see them back in a competitive environment, all be it supporting a great cause.”

The opening round of the tournament is a complete ‘sell out’ following the ‘Sky Sports Thursday’ promotion, which offered 20,000 free tickets as part of the event’s aim to attract a new and existing audience to golf.
