Philips Electronics UK has been named the Preferred Supplier to The 2010 Ryder Cup at The Celtic Manor Resort.

Ryder Cup Europe has announced the agreement for Philips to provide all the LCD screens required to service both the public and corporate areas at The Celtic Manor Resort in the City of Newport, Wales.

Philips is one of the world’s leading technology companies. Operating in healthcare, lifestyle and lighting, the company delivers innovative products for both consumer and business environments. Philips creates products which are not only advanced, but which also reflect the company’s brand promise of sense and simplicity.

Peter Maskell, Chairman of Philips UK, said: “Philips is proud to be partnering The 2010 Ryder Cup, which is regarded as one of the highlights of the global sporting calendar. This partnership provides the perfect opportunity for us to continue our association with prestigious sporting events and, through the best in class viewing experience that our TVs offer, bring spectators closer to the action.”

Richard Hills, Europe’s Ryder Cup Director, said: “With up to 50,000 spectators on site each day, it’s imperative that the action is accessible to all ticket holders in all the key areas, both on and off the course. With the full range of Philips LCD televisions at our disposal, we believe that the spectators in the public areas such as the Tented Village and the corporate areas such as Hospitality, as well as the media in the Media Centre, will all enjoy the highest quality pictures of the two Teams battling for The Ryder Cup.”
