Skechers Performance™ Division has announced the exciting news that the #2 footwear brand in the U.S has signed PGA Tour star, Russell Knox to its team of GO GOLF® professional brand ambassadors.
The supremely talented Scot joins fellow PGA Tour player, Matt Kuchar, Senior Major Champion, Colin Montgomerie, multiple Champions Tour winner, Billy Andrade and up and coming LPGA Tour star, Belén Mozo as part of the Skechers’ Performance elite team.
On tour, Knox will be wearing both of Skechers’ marquee models, GO GOLF Elite and GO GOLF Pro. The latter being the recipient of a host of fresh new colour styles, recently announced ahead of the 2016 season, which gives a completely fresh new look to the shoe that Matt Kuchar has been prominently featured wearing in competition over the past year.
The new 2016 GO GOLF Pro colours encompass a fashionable Charcoal Leather/Light Blue Trim, White Leather/Grey & Blue Trim, Brown Leather/Light Brown Trim and Black Leather/White Trim. These carefully selected new colours are sure to top off any golf outfit in true style, whilst at the same time providing supreme levels of comfort and stability to help you take your game to the next level.
Coming off his November 2015 victory at the WGC HSBC Champions in Shanghai and his rapid ascent up the Official World Golf Rankings, many eyes are set on 30 year-old Russell Knox. The Scotsman is currently ranked 4th in the PGA Tour’s FedExCup standings, as he prepares to tee off as the latest member of the Skechers Performance elite team. With his recent momentum, this year looks promising for Knox and includes a trip back to his native Scotland where he will compete at the Scottish Open in his hometown of Inverness as well as The Open Championship at Royal Troon.
“I’m thrilled to team up with Skechers Performance,” said Russell Knox. “The GO GOLF shoes really enhance my game and I welcome the opportunity to embark on the next stage of my career together with the brand. Everyone at Skechers Performance has been so incredibly supportive and I look forward to partnering with them.”
Knox is also optimistic about a potential debut in this year’s Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Course for the European team. He currently sits in 66th position on The European Team points list amongst an extremely high calibre of players.
With the ever-increasing amount of young talent on the European team, qualifying to play in golf’s most talked about event will be no easy task. However, considering the speed of his ascent, Know has proven that he is one to watch and anything could happen. If he can repeat his recent form from the WGC in in Shanghai, and keep his feet well and truly on the ground with Skechers GO GOLF, he has every chance gaining a prestigious place in Darren Clarke’s team.
If so, he will be gracing Hazeltine’s fairways in supreme comfort and style, alongside Ryder Cup legend and Skechers ambassador Colin Montgomerie, and USA’s Matt Kuchar who is set to make the rival team.
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Russell,” said Rick Higgins, Senior Vice President, Merchandising/Marketing, Skechers Performance. “His positive attitude and abilities on the course reflect the essence of our brand, and we are proud to have him represent our line of performance footwear at the highest level on tour.”
“Russell Knox is a fantastic athlete who has worked very hard with incredible success,” added Skechers USA, Inc. President, Michael Greenberg. “I have no doubt he will be a great asset to our team and we can’t wait to work with him to further grow the brand.”
