VPAR scoring used by top pros at Scottish Open Pro-Am

6.40am 17th July 2014 - Sponsorship & Events

VPAR_AAMIn the past few years the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open has become an extremely popular tournament with almost half of the world’s top 60 players this year honing their links skills in the lead up to The Open. This year the event was held on the Balgownie links at Royal Aberdeen.

The star studded line up for the Pro-Am included British Open Champion Phil Mickelson and former US Open Champion Justin Rose as well as Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, Phil Mickelson and Sir Nick Faldo. Some of the pros were showing their support for the tournament’s official charity, The ARCHIE Foundation, by wearing Scottish tartan trews.

For the 3rd year running VPAR provided the live scoring experience at the Pro-Am, allowing the amateurs in the field to feel like they were playing in the main event by knowing exactly where they stood on the course and in the clubhouse. The event also nicely coincided with the launch of VPAR in Scotland and what is a big year in the ‘Home of Golf’ with the Ryder Cup in September.

Jeremy Gray, Sales Director of VPAR said, ‘We are thrilled to be involved with and provide our live scoring service to such a high profile Pro-Am. The number of top pros who turn up is a testament to the event and having exposure to such golf superstars is invaluable to us. Long may our partnership continue’

Tom Rann, WSM Communications went on to say, ‘VPAR have been a great addition to our last 3 Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open Pro-Ams. Not only does it deliver a fantastic experience for the guests on the day but also helps with the organisational side, contributing to the overall smooth running of the day.’
