Club de Golf Alcanada is big news after joining Pebble Beach and the Old Course at St Andrews on CNN’s ‘bucket list’ of golf courses.

Alcanada – the only course in Mallorca adjacent to the sea – has picked up a succession of awards since the Robert Trent Jones Jnr course opened in 2003.

But this latest recognition underlines its global appeal as it was selected alongside some of the most famous venues in the world by the giant American media outlet for their Definitive Golf Course Bucket List.

A total of 16 other venues made the list with the UK’s Seaford, Emirates Golf Club in the UAE, The Farm at Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, Bled in Slovenia and the Old Course at St Andrews joining Alcanada as the courses outside of the USA to make the line-up.

Californian quartet Trump National, Arnold Palmer Private Course at PGA West, SilverRock Resort and Pebble Beach were all selected, while North Carolina duo – Sequoyah National and Tobacco Road Golf Club – also featured.

Sand Ridge in Ohio, Colleton River Plantation Club in South Carolina, Entrada at Snow Canyon, Utah, Tokatee in Oregon and Colorado’s Raven Golf Club were also given the CNN seal of approval.

Among Alcanada’s many endearing qualities are the stunning views and the centuries-old Mallorca clubhouse, which have clearly caught the attention across the Atlantic.

Earlier this year, Alcanada, which is owned by the Porsche family, was voted the best golf course in Europe by visitors to the 1golf.eu website for an unprecedented sixth successive year. And this was in addition to being acclaimed as ‘Favourite Course in Europe’ in German magazine Golf Journal‘s annual Golf Travel Awards for five years in a row.

Alcanada’s director of golf, Kristoff Both, said: “We like to think we appeal to golfers from all corners of the globe and it’s fantastic to be mentioned alongside some of the most iconic venues on the planet on CNN’s bucket list. It’s another positive headline for us at Alcanada.”
