The five red star Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa in St Andrews has achieved “a hat trick of awards’ in just one week.

The first accolade received is the prestigious Investors in People Gold Accreditation, the most successful framework for business improvement through people in the UK. Hot on its heels came recognition from the AA – giving the resort its AA Notable Wine List Award – and the iconic hotel completed the trio with Visit Scotland’s ’Taste Our Best’ award, recognising businesses that are “passionate about delivering a quality eating experience”.

Resort Director of Operations, David Scott, is “absolutely delighted” with the news, saying: “Achieving the Gold Accreditation puts us in the top 7% of all IIP Accredited clients and represents our true commitment to employees. The hard work of our food and beverage teams is also recognised – from our sommelier to our team of chefs.”

Marco Silva, manager of the resorts food & beverage adds: “We are thrilled with the recognition. We are committed to providing exceptional food and drink experiences – for our guests and visitors. Our commitment to provenance and the very best quality is paramount, and such awards are testament to the hard work from the entire team.”

Peter Russian, Chief Executive of Investors in People Scotland, said “This is a fantastic achievement for the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa. I would like to congratulate the organisation and its people on their commitment to continuous improvement”

The iconic St Andrews resort joins an exclusive group of UK employers eligible to use and display the sought after Investors in People logo and plaque, and enjoy its benefits. David adds: “Not only does this demonstrate a solid foundation of good practice, it is a wonderful testament to the incredible hard work from our entire staff – in the hotel, our Kohler Waters Spa, at the Duke’s Golf Club and in our two pubs, the Jigger Inn and Hams Hame. Every colleague should be very proud.”

The resort is owned by Kohler Co., one of America’s oldest and largest privately held companies.

David adds: “The hospitality arm of Kohler extends around the world, and we are very proud to be part of their team – especially on the eve of such a momentous year that sees the Open Championship return to St Andrews and our parent company host the 2015 USPGA at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin. To win accolades is wonderful. To win them as recognition for our commitment to the resort’s staff as well as our commitment to providing our guests with the very best food & drink is doubly satisfying and helps to ensure we continue to attract the very best people in our industry.”

Peter concludes: “Investors in People offers a flexible, practical and easy to use business improvement tool designed to help organisations and their people achieve their objectives. I hope that more organisations in the area will be encouraged to sharpen their competitive edge by choosing to work with us.”
